Mazzolla is a pretty village set on a hillock surrounded by the beautiful landscape typical of Tuscany. Tradition has it that it dates back to an Etruscan settlement, but the first document attesting to its existence dates back to the year 1000. Mazzolla is a protagonist of history: during the so-called “alum war”, in May 1472, it was besieged by Lorenzo il Magnifico’s troops, who razed it to the ground after two days of siege. Today the hamlet is home to the small church dedicated to San Lorenzo and a beautiful residential villa, owned by the Viti family.
