The hostile serpentine soil and the degradation caused by man through cutting and grazing have selected, in this part of the route, all the most important sclerophyllous plants of the Mediterranean maquis such as cysts, strawberry trees, phillyrea, myrtle, Italian buckthorn and tree heath.
