We are at the confluence of the river Cecina and the torrent Fosci, within a site recognised as of European value; the riverbed is characterised by an extensive pebbly shoreline colonised by pioneer shrub species. This is a vulnerable and precious habitat for the nesting of the “stone curlew”, a protected bird with crepuscular habits that is well camouflaged among the river stones.
