On the path, after the small church, chalcedony blocks are found with cavities covered with hyaline quartz crystals and magnesite crusts originating from the alteration of serpentine rocks. Between the end of the 16th century and mid-19th century, the famous chalcedony of Monterufoli and Caselli continuously supplied the Opificio Granducale delle Pietre Dure in Florence.
