With archaeological excavations performed since the early decades of the 18th century, the Marmini necropolis (a name derived from the numerous Etruscan cinerary urns with which the nearby Villa was built) mainly contained burials from the Hellenistic period (late 4th – early 1st centuries BC). Among the hypogea, it is possible to visit a tomb excavated in the local sandstone, in which a large circular hall edged by a large staircase is supported centrally by a large column, and another tomb in which the central hall, with a quadrangular plan, is divided into several chambers that housed the burials.
